To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences (ICCAS), our group successfully held a series of courses on "Polymer Processing and Characterization" from May 18 to 20. The event specially invited Professor Dr.-Ing. Volker Altstaedt, Chair of Polymer Engineering at the University of Bayreuth, Germany, member of the German National Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech), and current President of the Polymer Processing Society (PPS). Professor Altstaedt is a renowned scholar in the field of polymer materials and composites. He has collaborated extensively with internationally renowned companies such as BASF, Adidas, and Covestro, and has received prestigious awards including the JEC Composites Innovation Award and the PPS James L. White Innovation Award. He is a 2025 CAS PIFI Visiting Professor, hosted by Professor Xia Dong.

This course series covered three topics:

    1.Trisamide to Tailor Semicrystalline Polymers and Foams

    2. Expandable PLA Bead Foams

    3. Fatigue of Polymers."

The courses attracted numerous researchers and students, with a total attendance of 114 participants, fostering a strong academic atmosphere and lively discussions.

This course series not only strengthened the academic exchange between our research group and internationally renowned scholars but also provided valuable learning and networking opportunities for technical personnel from our industrial partners, further advancing our research group's development in the field of polymer processing and characterization.
