Lecture by Prof. Thomas J. McCarthy

Prof. Thomas J. McCarthy from University of Massachusetts visited our group on April 27th, 2012. He gave a wonderful lecture on the topic of "Teflon is Hydrophilic and Other True Stories". In the lecture, he reviewed his research work on wetting and superhydrophobicity in a manner designed to serve as a useful primer for those who might like to use the concepts of this field. He further reviewed their analyses of the phenomena of contact angle hysteresis, the lotus effect and perfect hydrophobicity.
